Door Locks

As part of the rent-ready process, we have Kwikset Smartkey door locks and knobs installed on the properties we manage. These locks enable quick and easy rekeying between tenants.

Please check the rent-ready document in the management agreement for additional details.  If you have any questions, please contact us. We will ensure the property’s locks prior to a resident moving in; we will replace incorrect locks, even if the locks are newly installed.

Door locks are part of our process, and we will ensure the locks meet our process.

Front Door Locks:

We require a keypad deadlock on at least one door. This is almost always the front door. Please confirm with us before installing a keypad deadbolt on a door other than the front door.

On the door with the keypad deadbolt, the handle/doorknob needs to be non-keyed access. One of the purposes of the keypad deadbolt is to help prevent accidental lockouts.

Kwikset has a lot of deadbolt, keypad options.  We cannot use any deadbolt that requires the internet or a phone to setup.

Some front doors have specialty handles. As long as it is not keyed, it is fine. If it is keyed, it needs to be replaced with a non-keyed handle/knob.

Dummy Knobs:

All exterior doors need a deadbolt lock for security.  If an exterior door only has one drilled hole, a deadbolt needs to be installed with a dummy knob on each side or another hole can be drilled in the door.  Kwikset offers multiple options; here is one option.
